Go Rangers

So here it is, nearly August and the Texas Rangers are still in the thick of things in the American League West race. While they did hit a rough patch for a bit and have relinquished their hold on first place, they seem to have righted the ship. Last night they completed a three game sweep of the Boston Red Sox. The first place Boston Red Sox.
They are not scoring runs in great numbers right now. Instead, they are winning old-school style with pitching, defense and smart base running. It has been a joy to watch them become an aggressive team on the base paths and hitters willing to take a walk. SO DIFFERENT!
They may not make the playoffs this year. They may not next. But they have gotten my attention a week before Cowboys training camp opens and I'm not the only one paying attention this year. Good for them.
Thanks, Nolan Ryan.

We folks in the northeast just start getting excited about baseball about the time y'all are dropping interest -- August. But we see October baseball every year and have lots of meaningful games in September. Usually the only interesting thing about baseball in Texas in August is the Rangers version of 10 cent beer night. Sure is nice as a Rangers fan to still be trash talking the Red Sox and Yankee fans in my fantasy league
