a new book i started this morning.

Grace Unknown: The Heart of Reformed Theology by R.C. Sproul
I had this question come up in the planning sessions for the Men's Retreat a couple weeks ago. It came up more in my mind than in the discussions and so I needed an answer. A good friend in our small group at church has loaned me the book.
One of the earliest statements in it that I found provocative is this (paraphrased by memory) - Theology can be described as the study of God while religion is more the study of man.
THAT"S WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT!! People screw up God.....
More on it later as I get deeper into it. Of course you can just skip these posts ;-)

Another definition of theology:
The nature of God, the nature of humanity, God and humanity.

You may want to take some time to skim Mark Roberts posts from the last month since he's one of yours (Presbyterian), and has some things to say about what y'all have been doing lately.

DUDE! first of all you are letting your yankeeness shine through - if you gonna say "y'all" there is no need for "have." y'all is a wide use contraction with many uses, but one of the primary is to shorten things you need to actually say. They are implied by its presence. So, it would be more proper to say "...what y'all bean doin' of late."
Second, you mean the Presbies have actually done something other than form another committee or hear a report from an earlier committee?
(I was so disappointed to learn that the denomination doesn't include pot-luck dinners as one of its sacrements....that means we only have 2! know what they are?)

Pot Lucks! Hey, that's one of our sacraments. The other is politicking (or more accurately, passing politically opinionated resolutions that everyone will ignore!). Now if you were Baptist they'd be fussin' and fightin', but since y'all are Reformed, what are they?

Oh, do you know how many Methodists it takes to change a light bulb?
(insert any mainline denomination in the place of Methodists)

Change?

for those who have been waiting with baited breath, the two sacrements of the Presbyterian Church are:
Baptism
Communion
