They had to splice into the power lines to avoid detection. In CT they use computers to screen utility usage compared to the house's footprint. an abnormally large use of electricity can lead to a warrant and a surprise visit. they turned up a number of pot factories that way. As soon as the growers figure out how to solve the problem of where to get electricity without being detected the business will boom among the boomers who waited too long to save for retirement (or smoked all their savings).
or got stung by enron and the like and now need "high" returns to recaptialize their IRAs.
i think the iranians want to figure out small scale nuclear power to sell the dope growers...
