Wow! The Rangers pony up.....

and could it be a culture shift?
Unconfirmed reports are saying the Texas Rangers have agreed to a new contract with shortstop Michael Young that will keep him a Ranger for life. A reported deal for $80 million is all but done, a deal that will net the former American League batting champion $18 mil per year.
I have always liked Mr. Young's attitude and leadership. He also plays the game the right way.
The Rangers have not been known as a team that works to keep its own. I hope this marks a new beginning for them. Maybe we can start playing meaningful games in September and October instead of just marking time until the Cowboys and Mavericks get their seasons going....

Don't spend it all at once! Remember, A-Rod could test the market after this season!!! You really should start a grass roots movement to get Alex back to the Ballpark in Arlington!!!!

Please.

Young is one of those under-appreciated players who deserves a lot more attention than he gets. I'd love to see him in a Cardinals uniform someday, but it'll never happen.

pitching. gotta have pitching. and in arlington ya got to have a lot of it. the heat wears down the staff and the ballpark is a hitter's paradise, especially when the wind is blowing out, like at wrigley

hey bro, you know and i know but for those of our readers (all three) that don't, the wind blows out pretty much all summer in a weird way.
Homeplate at The Ballpark faces southeast. the wind here blows from the south for 4 months....
when it comes over the high wind screen over the right field porch, it creates a jet-stream effect that lifts the ball toward the right field stands. between this and steroids, Palmiero got a lot of extra homers!
