105

Yeah. It's here.
I'm leaving in the morning for a ride to Milwaukee. On my Sportster.
The other night, I stopped into the Flying Pig in downtown Lewisville for a beer after a ride home with Ardy. This fella, Joe, is talking about "Iron Butt Rides", whereby motorcyclists go for a 10,000 mile ride in 10 days. I let him know I am facing 1.100 miles next weekend (Sunday and Monday) in a sprint back from the Harley 105th.
He asks me what I am riding.
Knowing what is coming next from him I reply, "My Sportster."
His heart goes out to me, he says. I have all his respect but I have no idea what it is I am missing out on. He cajoles me to follow him outside, which I do. He makes me sit on his Honda Valkerie. He starts it, asks for my license and tells me to be back in twenty minutes.
I admit it is a very smooth ride. And I would likely feel much better riding that bike for 10 or 11 hours than mine. At least my back might.
But there is not a chance in hell I am not gonna make this ride on the RLB. It rolled past 11,000 miles this afternoon and I intend to add another 3 or 4 thousand in the next 8 days. I might even get a chance to post on the road. If Kevin's high tech gizmos work!
See ya.
