Happy Friday, World!

Yippee. Another week in the books. The Dallas Mavericks keep winning. Mrs. Booth is working in a new location and she may love it soon. I am spending time wrestling with understanding nuances in Reformed Theology contrasted to Historic Arminianism (I may not have spelled that correctly; how can I understand it? ;-P )
So, here is a quick list of my Friday Random Ten. The link is to Annamaria's site, where I got the idea from so many weeks ago. She might have the "rules" for it there. She has apparently been back blogging recently. Visit her and say thanks for it! Yay. She DOES make me think...
1 Michael W Smith - Worth It All
2 Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
3 The Decemberists - The Mariner's Revenge Song
4 Guster - Barrel Of A Gun
5 Ryan Adams - Nervous Breakdown
6 Phish - Llama
7 Steel Pulse - KLu Klux Klan
8 Elvis Costello - Watching The Detectives
9 The Decemberists - We Both Go Down Together
10 8mm - Give It up
Enjoy your day.

Winter has arrived....

Yep. All this past weekend the local news channels had "Special Coverage of the Artic Blast" that was descending on Texas. It didn't really ice over until Monday, which made for interesting commuting stories for the sparse few that made it into work (of course I did). Yesterday was just cold, the mercury never rising above the magic 32 degree mark. But the sun shone and the roads were mostly clear.
This morning, I woke about 5:30 and thought to myself, "Is that rain? I didn't think it was supposed to rain..."
Actually, it was sleet. And something they call snow in Texas, but to this Yankee it looks more like little bitty ice balls, not snowflakes.
This picture was taken through my windsheild as we drove in. I kept off the freeways we normally traverse and so the drive took much longer than usual. We made the 20 miles in just over an hour. The hardest part was getting out of my suburban city. Too many cars trying to go too fast for my taste.
Anyway, I will enjoy it for the time it is here. But I know that it may be cold for a week but it will soon be back in the 50s and 60s....

On Love

Over the icy weekend here in Dallas, we were clearing out the DVR in anticipation of the new season of 24. Gotta have enough space for that show!
Anyway, as Mrs. Wharfrat was going through the stored Oprah shows, there was a segment with Rabbi Shmuley of the show Shalom In The Home. He made a pretty remarkable statement if you take time to really consider what he said. It was during a segment on parenting but I think can apply to any personal relationship.

"Love isn't what you feel. Love is a verb. Love is what you DO."
